Virginia Sue (Miller) Campbell

Virginia Sue Miller Campbell, age 72 of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022 while in the care of Hospice. Mrs. Campbell was born on April 26, 1949 in Ashe County to Rudy Roscoe Miller and Ruby Alice Johnson Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger Campbell; two daughters, Deborah Ann Campbell and Doranda Lois Campbell; two brothers, Damon Miller and Ronald Miller; and one sister, Delphia Mitchell.

Virginia, also known as Sue, loved to talk about the Lord. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing zilch and cards with anyone willing to lose. Sue was raised in Ashe County and spent most of her adult life in Pennsylvania. She moved to Lexington about five years ago to be closer to her family.

She is survived by:  six sisters, Berta Faw of South Carolina, Opal Essick (Joe) of Jefferson, Mary Miller, Geneva Gilley (Rick), Karen Buckland (Robert), and Becky Sale (Rodney), all of Lexington; two brothers, Lane Miller (Rose) of Rising Sun, MD and Allen Miller (Barb) of Lexington; six grandchildren, Sasha Lear, Naleesha Hampton, Joshua Gilbert, Allen Speakman, Rebekah Gilbert, and Ryan Gilbert; also surviving are five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Pastor Mike Fritts. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Lansing.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
