Thomas "Tom" Earl Miller

Thomas Earl Miller better known as Tom, age 69 of Warrensville, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his home.  Mr. Miller was born December 18, 1952 in Ashe County to the late Earl and Florence Roland Miller.  Tom married Sue Hartsoe on December 20, 1970.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1972.  He returned home in 1974 after serving his country as a military police officer.  Living next door to his parents, “Tommy Honey” as his mother called him, was always helping on the farm, tending to the cattle and to the land he loved while also working at Thomasville Furniture for 30 years and then as a carpenter for his son-in-law for 10 years.  A severe illness forced him into retirement earlier than he wished.

Tom was a man who loved his family and his Jesus.  He was married to Sue, his high school sweetheart for 51 years.  Out of their union came his pride and joy, his girls Kim and Heather.  He enjoyed spending time with his family such as taking trips to watch bull riding, monster trucks, Disney on Ice, and attending football, volleyball, basketball and baseball games.  Tom also loved to fish and camp with his family.  He also loved his church family at Pleasant View Baptist Church and especially enjoyed sharing his thoughts after each sermon with his pastor, Dwight Shepherd.  He also enjoyed spending time helping “the boys” with projects in his shop. Tom was a creative man, he was always working on some type of gadget or contraption to make a job easier.  “Work smarter not harder,” was what he always said.
