Stephen Roger Roop

Stephen Roger Roop, better known as Roger, age 78 of West Jefferson, died Monday, November 1, 2021 at Margate Health and Rehab.  Mr. Roop was born March 2, 1943 in Grayson County, VA to the late Roy and Minerva Richardson Roop.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ottis Roop.  He loved woodworking, especially building birdhouses.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Whitetop Baptist Church by Rev. Wayne Jones and P. J. Stamper.

Mr. Roop is survived by; his wife, Janet Walters Roop; four step-sons, Mike (Cindy) Walker of Goldsboro, Bill (Trisha) Walker of Huntersville, Bob Walker and Terry Walker both of West Jefferson; one step-daughter, Carolyn (Tony) Elliott of Creston; three sisters, Rita Stamper of Whitetop, Ozell Roop and Ocil (Johnny) Roop all of Crumpler; two brothers, Gene (Virginia) Roop and Cliff (Faye) Roop all of Whitetop.  9 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family respectfully request no food or flowers please.  Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
