Roger Gale Howell

Roger Gale Howell, age 72 of Crumpler, died Monday, July 29, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mr. Howell was born December 4, 1946 in Ashe County to the late Spencer and Beulah Hamm Howell.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Berna Jo Ann Blevins Howell, his son, Randy Howell, brothers, Earl, Eugene and Ralph Howell and sister, Evelyn Phipps.

Roger was a member of Shelter Baptist Church, he never met a stranger and was a friend to anyone he met.  Roger was a member of the NC State Championship team of Ashe Central High School.  He retired from Skyline Telephone after many years of service.  He enjoyed working outside and took pride in his yard.  He also enjoyed spending time at Hardees with his friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 2, 2019 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mike McElhaney, Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Chris Goodman.  Burial will follow in Scott-Blevins Cemetery with military rites.  The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Thursday, August 1st at Badger Funeral Home.

Mr. Howell is survived by his granddaughter, Anna Wyatt of Lansing, brothers, Dale Howell, Ronnie Howell and Mike Howell all of Jefferson, sisters, Geneva Phillips and Freda Hardy both of Jefferson and Hilda Brookshire of Wilkesboro.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ashe Central State Basketball Championship Team, Morris Walker, Charlie Bowers, Warren Witherspoon, Dicky Bower, Eddie Vannoy, David Mullis, Lannie Blevins, Jim Thompson, John Jackson, and David Bower.

Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Shelter Baptist Church or Scott-Blevins Cemetery.
