Richard Benny Johnson

Richard Benny Johnson, better known as Benny, age 71 of Fleetwood, passed away on Sunday, April 10. 2022 at Watauga Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was born on March 9, 1951 in Ashe County to Lewis and Gertrude Owens Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Andrea Johnson; three brothers, Robert "Bob" Johnson, Jim Johnson, and John Johnson; and a sister, Pat Eastridge.

Mr. Johnson liked to build things and enjoyed refinishing old things and making them new. He enjoyed bowling when he was younger. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson is survived by:  o ne daughter, Penny Brittain of Creston; f our brothers, Clyde Johnson of New York, Tom Johnson of Grassy Creek, Carl Johnson, and Charlie Johnson of Warrensville; t hree sisters, Ruth Pruitt of Greeneville, Tennessee, Anna Blevins of Crumpler, and Brenda Miller of Wilkesboro; h is companion; Donna Lambert of Fleetwood; three grandchildren, Kareigh Brittain, Brigs Waddell, and Collins Waddell; a lso surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Russell Hart. Burial will follow in Piney Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
