Melton C. Mahala

Melton C. Mahala, age 57 of Creston, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at his home.  Melton was born December 8, 1963 in Fairbanks, Alaska to the late Billy Joe and Wilma Louise Gambill Mahala.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Leonard and Ruby Mahala, maternal grandparents, Roy and Bonnie Gambill, 3 aunts and 2 cousins.

Melton was a dedicated employee of AEV for 26 years.  In his free time he enjoyed watching NASCAR, collecting model cars, visiting classic car shows and spending time with his family.  Melton cared deeply for his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Three Forks Baptist Church by Brother Anthony Roark.  Graveside services will me held Monday, February 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Roark Mahala Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service.  Friends may also call at the home of Sherrie Mahala.  Please wear a mask and practice social distancing if attending.

Mr. Mahala is survived by his sister, Sherrie Mahala of Creston, niece, Destiney Cummings of Creston, nephews, Matthew Sturgill and girlfriend, Allison Holman of Creston, Billy Arnold of West Jefferson and Zachary Graybeal of Creston, great niece, Alyvia Sturgill, great nephew, Hunter Sturgill, uncle, Glen Gambill and wife Shirley of Creston and aunt, Pearl Osborne and husband Ray of Mountain City.
