Margaret "Tootsie" Virginia (Osborne) McCoy

Margaret Virginia Osborne McCoy, better known as “Tootsie”, age 84 of Creston, the Big Laurel Community passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 at her home.  Mrs. McCoy was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on Wednesday, April 17, 1935 to the late Lee and Roseally Woods Osborne.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas McCoy Sr. as well as a son, Thomas Glenn McCoy and her grandson, Joshua Paul McCoy.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Buck Osborne and wife Louise, Jesse Lee Osborne and wife Marie, three sisters, Pearl Jones, Mary Lyalls and Betty Severt and husband Morris, two nephews, Donnie Osborne and Tony Jones.  Tootsie was a member of Big Laurel Mennonite Church.  She loved to cook, crochet, garden and grow things and she also enjoyed sewing, and quilting.  She never met a stranger and was always a friend to anyone she met.

Mrs. McCoy is survived by two sons; John McCoy Jr. and wife Angie of Creston and Billy Osborne of Yadkinville, two brothers; Bud Osborne of Lansing and Ed Osborne of West Jefferson and one sister; Pauline Lynch of Lansing.  Two grandchildren, Sammy Bradshaw of Creston and Emily Osborne of Yadkinville, her special friend, Paul Price and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Big Laurel Mennonite Church by Minister David Lyalls, Rev. Darrell Graybeal and Pastor Kirby Herman.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Ashe Services for Aging.

The family respectfully requests that any food donations please be brought to the church on Saturday rather than to the home.
