Louise Little (Rye) Duvall

Louise Little Duvall, age 101 of Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Forest Ridge Assisted Living.  Mrs. Duvalll was born December 2, 1920 in Ashe County to the late, James and Mae Boswell Rye.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Little and Guy Calvin Duvall, son, Rex Little, granddaughter, Kim Little and all her brothers and sisters.  Mrs. Duvall was a member of Sturgills Baptist Church.  She worked as Postmistress for the Nella Post Office and also at Sprague Electric for over 25 years.  Louise enjoyed quilting, she made 23 quilts for her children and grandchildren.  She was an excellent cook and was well known for her chicken and dumplings and butterscotch pies.  She also enjoyed gardening and canning.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day.  Burial will follow in the Nella Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service.

Mrs. Duvall is survived by her daughter, Brenda Gentry (Tom) of Charlotte,  step-daughters, Linda Little (Jerry) of West Jefferson and Rita Richardson (Rick) of Warrensville, daughter-in-law, Becky Little, grandchildren, Tommy Gentry (Haley), Eddy Gentry (Michelle) and Toby Little (Sherry), 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, Kevin Little (Robin) and Willie Richardson (Frannie) and Charity Miller (James), 6 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
