Julia Faye (Coleman) Norton

Julia Faye Norton, better known as Faye, age 94 of West Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Forest Ridge Assisted Living.  Mrs. Norton was born August 5, 1927 in Brunswick County to the late Oscar and Eloise Potter Coleman.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Norton, daughter, Julie Dale Wood, brothers, Nicky and Charles Coleman, sister, Lois Kotler and grandson, Austin Ring.

Mrs. Norton was the first of two police women to be hired in Wilmington.  She had a strong faith in God and went on many mission trips to Nicaragua and Honduras.  Faye loved her church family and enjoyed reading and studying her bible.  She was well known in the county for her seamstress skills and made curtains for many people.  She was also a wonderful cook.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Elliott Osowitt.

Mrs. Norton is survived by two daughters, Karen Rash of West Jefferson and Lori Ring (Tim) of Monroe, two sons, John Norton of Wilmington and Wallace Pearson of Wilkesboro and special niece, Keli Kotler. 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of Forest Ridge Assisted Living, Medi Home Hospice and Dr. Melinda Wonsick for the excellent care their mother received.
