James Emory Spencer

James Emory Spencer, age 80 of Mouth of Wilson, VA died Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at his home.  Mr. Spencer was born June 26, 1939 in Grayson County, Virginia to Marvin and Lanta Sturgill Spencer.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by; brother, William “Mack” Spencer and sisters, Lorraine Spencer Williams and Thelma Spencer McGraw.  James was an avid member of Wolf Knob Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, raising dogs and visiting on the back porch.  James loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day and Elder Roger Peak. Burial will follow in the Haw Orchard Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm prior to the service.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife, Margaret Haga Spencer, one son, Rodney Perry of Florida, three daughters, Debbie Lyall of Wilkesboro, Sherry Hurley and husband Scott of Piney Creek and Lynette Eller and husband Jeremy of Lansing, 10 grandchildren; Brandy Lyall and Jonathan Huskins, Felicia Blevins, Jeanne and Tommy Lambert, James and Canzada Lyall, Keshia and Aaron Burchette, Bradley Lyall, Brian and Hailey Lyall, Brittney Hurley and Brandon Baird, Dalton Eller and Tate Eller, 9 great grandchildren; Tori, Abigale, Luke, Maddie, Levi, Lennox, Hunter, Emmitt and Carson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
