James Joseph Antoine, known as "Jim", age 91 of West Jefferson, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was born on December 17, 1931, in Hockessin, Delaware, to the late August Aloysius Antoine Sr. and Isabel Cecelia O'Brien.
A proud veteran, James served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, demonstrating his commitment to his country.
James had a passion for horses. He trained and raced these magnificent animals. His connection with horses was a testament to his gentle nature.
He was a skilled machinist by trade. Later in life, he worked as a truck driver, specializing in the delivery of cars. His exceptional driving skills earned him awards and recognition.
Beyond his work, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in working on the farm with his beloved animals.
He is survived by his loving wife, Goldie Christine Goodman Antoine; two sons, Rendal Antoine (Darlene) of Delaware and Timothy James Antoine (Tonya) of West Jefferson; three grandchildren, Jason Antoine, Jesse Antoine, and Nathan Jolly; seven great-grandchildren and one nephew also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer with military rites.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

James Joseph Antoine will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his service to his country, and his passion for horses and the land. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
