Harrison Elliott Ashley, of Warrensville, better known as Harry passed peacefully at the age of 78 on Thursday night, December 22, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ashley was born in Ashe County to the late James Paul and Lillie Elliott Ashley. Harry was an active, lifelong member of Warrensville Baptist Church, attending for the first time when he was two weeks old. Harry served the church as Deacon, Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, and was known to be spotted working on projects on or around the church at any given time. He retired from United Chemi-Con after 41 years of employment.  Woodworking, stained glass work, and farming were some of his hobbies, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashley was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph “Joe” Oren Ashley. Mr. Ashley is survived by: his loving wife, Janie Griffin Ashley; daughter, Sherri Ashley Singer and her husband Dale of McLeansville, NC; son, Derek Shane Ashley and his wife Samantha of Lincolnton, NC; granddaughter, Sarah Singer; sister, Nancy “Becky” Myers of Winston-Salem; and numerous  nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Warrensville Baptist Church by Rev. Wade Huntsinger and Rev. Rex Eldreth. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
