Garvie Lester Hamby "Campbell"

Garvie Lester Hamby, also known as Garvie Campbell, age 74 of Jefferson passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at his home. Mr. Hamby was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on September 2, 1946.  Garvie was preceded in death by his parents, Mack Donley and Volyree Eastridge Campbell, two brothers, Douglas and Bartie Campbell and one sister, Kathy Fitez.

Garvie drove a truck since the age of 14, he enjoyed camping and fishing, he was a member of Bristol Baptist Church.

Mr. Hamby is survived by: his wife, Wanda Greer Hamby, two sons, Tommy Hamby and wife, Sharon of Patrick, SC and James Hamby and wife, Tammy of Jefferson, two daughters, Wanda “Sissy” Elmore of Jefferson and Tina Barker and husband Gerald of Troutdale, VA, two sisters, Elaine Brewer of Creston and Barbara Ann Brown of Lenoir, three brothers, Robert Campbell and Jimmy Campbell both of Jefferson and Harley Campbell of Wilkesboro, 13 grandchildren, Sarah and Ruben Garcia, Brittany and Mitchell Cummings, Carrie Hamby, Justin Barnes, Ricky Barnes, Christina and Alvin Best, Haley and Jacy Jenkins, Cynthia LaRue, Justin Bledsoe, Mikayla Mullis, James Kameron and Allie Hamby and Nikki Hamby and Thomas John Hamby, 14 great-grandchildren, Jazmine Barnes, Gracie Barnes, Jakeb Hamby, Sadie Barnes, Makinley Barnes, Marlee Barnes, Adrianna Best, Cayden Fletcher, Keilan Barnes, Taegan Cummings, Kenyan Barnes, Jayden McWalters, Cuyller Best and Archer Bledsoe, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Badger Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow in the Calhoun Cemetery with Rev. Ken Furches, Rev. J.B. Hamm and Rev. Billy Joe Blevins.
