Christina Alice (Gilley) Mullis

Christina Alice Gilley Mullis, age 71, of Jefferson, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 24, 2023. She was born on September 29, 1951, in Ashe County to George Edward Gilley and Myrtle Combs Gilley. Christina was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Sammy Gene Mullis.

Christina cherished the simple joys of life. She found immense pleasure in watching westerns on TV and had a special place in her heart for dogs. Christina was known as a collector of various things and had a knack for finding treasures in unexpected places. She had a mischievous sense of humor and enjoyed playing jokes on those around her.

For many years, Christina dedicated her time and energy to Western Steer Restaurant, where she formed friendships with coworkers and patrons alike. She and her husband also operated a concession trailer at local festivals, serving delicious treats and creating cherished memories for all who visited.

One of Christina's greatest joys in life was her family. She adored her grandchildren and was excited to meet her great-grandson.

She is survived by:  daughter, Angelia Mullis of Jefferson; three sisters, Penny Gilley of South Carolina, Linda Massey of Jefferson, and Barbara Baker of Warrensville; brother, Lonnie Gilley of Jefferson; two grandchildren, Harley Waln (Alexis) and Samantha Mullis; great-grandson, Jude Waln; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service to celebrate Christina's life will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 5:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Flowers will be accepted.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, who will always remember her warm smile, playful spirit, and unwavering love.
