Burl Lewis

Burl Lewis age 82 of Crumpler passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Lewis was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, August 16, 1939 to the late W. Astor and Esther Milam Lewis. Including his parents he was preceded in death by a infant brother, Roy Abraham Lewis. Burl was a hard worker who never missed a day of work. Burl attended Welcome Home Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to Oak Hill Basketball games and was an avid UNC Tarheel fan. He never missed a chance to watch and cheer on his grandkids in any activity or game they were involved in.

Mr. Lewis is survived by, his wife, Norma Jones Lewis, daughter, Sheila Roark (Rex) of Creston, son, Randy Lewis of Crumpler, two granddaughters, Jessica Finley (Rock), Ashley Emerson (Ben), seven great-grandchildren, Blakely Miller, Kaiden Miller, Weston Emerson, Lukas Finley, Gatlin Emerson, Triston Finley and McKenzie Finley; siblings, Juanita Roten of West Jefferson, Ilene Roten of Asheville, Wilma Jordan of West Jefferson, Wanda Mock of Warrensville, Larry Lewis of Creston, Barbara Johnson of Warrensville and Evelyn Colvard of Crumpler, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Joey McClure. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Ashelawn.

The family will also receive friends at the home on Greensboro Road in Crumpler on Thursday and Friday from 12:00 noon until 7:00 pm.
