Austin “Coot” Miller

Austin Miller better known as Coot, age 82 of Lansing, died Monday, December 6, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center.  Mr. Miller was born July 30, 1939 in Ashe County to the late James and Lora Powers Miller.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by brothers, Bobby, Arlie, Avery, Arnold and James Miller and sister, Arlene Stansberry.  Mr. Miller attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.  He was looking forward to the arrival of his great-grandson, Dawson in March.  Austin enjoyed flea markets, antique cars, farming, watching westerns and spending time with his dog, Tippy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Speaker Bill Powers and Rev. Allan Huffman.  Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 pm prior to the service.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Bobbie Brinegar Miller, sons, Jeff Miller and fiancée Joan Blevins of Warrensville and Tony Miller and wife Tina of Cary, daughter, Angela Miller Bates of Swansboro, brothers, Guy Miller of Crumpler and Tom Miller of Jefferson, sisters, Edith Johnson and Betty Kerr of Crumpler, grandchild, Justin Miller and wife Allissa and great-grandchildren, Caroline and Autumn Miller. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
