Arvell Edwin Grogan

Arvell Edwin Grogan age 86 of West Jefferson passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Watauga Medical Center. Mr. Grogan was born in Ashe County on March 24, 1936 to the late Raymond and Beatrice Worley Grogan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, all his siblings, brothers, Garland, Glenn and Shirley Grogan and sisters, Arleigh Joines and Bobbie Greer. Arvell was employed by The Oak Flooring Plant, Thomasville Furniture, prior to becoming self employed as a painter. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, collecting NASCAR die-cast cars, doing word search puzzles and watching the birds from his front porch swing. Most of all he loved his Jesus, his family and his country.

Mr. Grogan is survived by: his wife, Bertha Bowlin Grogan, two daughters, Kathy Bare of Millers Creek, Patty Wineberg (Danny) of Deep Gap, one son, Darrell Grogan (Angie) of Fleetwood, five grandchildren, Jennifer Bare, Whitney Hagaman (Michael), Amber Tucker (Ethan), Melanie Grogan and Ethan Grogan; five great-grandchildren, Noah Hagaman, Emma Hagaman, Anna Hagaman, Weston Tucker and Levi Tucker; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Beaver Creek Christian Church by Pastor Loren Lung. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm Wednesday prior to the service. The family request for those attending the service to please wear a mask.

The family is meeting at the home place, where friends may call at any time.
