Virginia (Blevins) Shephard

Virginia Shephard age 68 of West Jefferson died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Shephard was born in Whitetop, VA on Wednesday, January 31, 1951 to Christina and the late Clinton Blevins. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Shephard Jr. She enjoyed going to church and was a member of Devine Hope Baptist Church. Virginia enjoyed working in her flowers, cooking, shopping, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known for her devotion to watching the daytime soap operas, “Days of our Lives”, “Young and the Restless”, and “The Bold and the Beautiful”. She was a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband, Archie Shephard Jr. until his passing on March 26, 2018.

Mrs. Shephard is survived by: two daughters, Jennifer Riggleman and husband Randall of Petersburg, West Virginia and Christina Shephard and fiancée, Brandon Shinault of Galax, VA, her mother, Christina Blevins of West Jefferson, five brothers, Ira Blevins and wife Dixie of Amissville, VA, Gale Blevins and wife Freda of Whitetop, VA, Howard Blevins and wife Patricia of Mouth of Wilson, VA, Clifford Blevins and wife Alison of North Wilkesboro, and James Blevins and wife Marlena of West Jefferson, one sister, Edith Osborne and husband Bobby of Lansing, five grandchildren, Ryan Riggleman, Jordan Riggleman, Austin Shinault, Brandy Shinault, Elora Shinault, special friend, Mona Blevins, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. David Blevins and Rev. Howard Davis. Burial will follow in the Haw Orchard Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 6 until 8 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
