Victoria “Vickie” Lynn Russell Cooper

Victoria Lynn Russell Cooper, affectionately known as Vickie, passed away peacefully on August 28 2024, in Watauga County, North Carolina. Born on September 10, 1969, in Ashe County, she was the beloved daughter of Mervyn Odell Russell and Becky Graybeal Russell. Vickie's life was a testament to her loving spirit and vibrant personality, which touched the hearts of those who knew her.

Vickie's educational journey began at Ashe Central High School, after which she attended Wilkes Community College, where she earned an associate's degree. This foundation allowed her to thrive in her professional and personal pursuits.

Vickie was a passionate animal lover, with a special fondness for dogs. She owned and operated a dog grooming shop called Doggy Doo’s, where she spread joy and care to pets and their owners alike. Her dedication to animals reflected her nurturing nature, as she was known for always being ready to help others and check in on those around her. In addition to her grooming business, she demonstrated her work ethic and commitment by serving at Gates Rubber Company and the Deep Gap Post Office.

A lover of life, Vickie enjoyed spending her time flower gardening and creating memories with her family. She had a passion for collecting paintings featuring children and dogs, reflecting both her love for family and her fondness for animals. Her joy for music, particularly rock, often radiated wherever she went; family could always tell when she arrived, as her music would resonate loudly.

Vickie's sense of adventure was complemented by her enjoyment of shopping at Goodwill and the Salvation Army, trips to the beach, and rides on her motorcycle with her boyfriend, Richard Turnmire. A simple pleasure for her was indulging in a refreshing Mountain Dew, which became an endearing reminder of her vibrant and spirited approach to life.

She is survived by her mother, Becky Russell; brother, Thomas Russell, and his wife, Jennifer, of Warrensville; niece Josie, and nephew Will. Furthermore, she leaves behind her cherished boyfriend, Richard, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins who will hold her memory close to their hearts.

Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Mervyn Odell Russell, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.

The family will receive friends at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel & Gardens on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Ashe County Humane Society, PO Box 1776, West Jefferson, NC  28694.
