Velma Brown Jones

Velma Brown Jones, age 77 of Crumpler, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sunday, June 27, 1948 to the late Virgle and Mollie Lorene Blevins Brown. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Helton Valley Baptist Church in Whitetop by Pastor David Lewis and Speaker Tracy Jones. Burial will follow in Scott-Blevins Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Jones is survived by: her husband, Jack Jones; one daughter, Mollie Brown of Crumpler; four brothers, Robert Brown of West Jefferson, Lacy Brown, Howard “H.D.” Brown, and Wayne Brown, all of Crumpler; also surviving are 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
