Suzy Poe

Suzy Poe, age 71 of West Jefferson passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at her home. She was born on April 24, 1954 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Hugh Huff Burnett and Sylvia Ann Sell Robinson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Bill Robinson, and her brother, Hugh Burnett.

Suzy was a woman whose spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life—antique shopping, casting a fishing line, and hiking the beautiful trails of the Smoky Mountains. She also had a tender heart for animals and loved caring for her beloved pets, who were truly part of her family.

Suzy lived her life with a spiritual foundation and a love for her Lord which showed through her actions. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back without hesitation. Helping others came naturally to her, and kindness was simply who she was.

Her family lovingly describes Suzy as truly one of a kind—there was no one else like her. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a way of making people laugh when they needed it most, and she was always full of words of wisdom, shared gently and thoughtfully. Her smile—bright, warm, and unchanging—had a way of lighting up a room and putting hearts at ease.

Mrs. Poe is survived by her husband, Ray Poe, her daughter, Susan Turman of Wilmington, her sister, Wendy Robinson of Memphis, TN along with her beloved dog, Sweet Pea, her cats, Mama C. and Bear Cat and her grand-dog, Mister.

Suzy’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the wisdom she passed along. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Suzy’s life will be held at a later date so that family and friends may gather to share memories and celebrate the life she lived.

Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the family in care of Ashelawn Memorial Chapel; 3470 US Highway 221 N. Jefferson, NC 28640.
