Stevie Randall Miller, age 69, of West Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Stevie was born on July 2, 1956, in Ashe County to the late Ervin Herman and Virginia Doris Taylor Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Miller.
Stevie was a gentle soul whose presence brought joy to everyone who knew him. Though he was never able to speak, he had a beautiful way of communicating happiness and love through his smile and spirit. He was easy to please and truly content with life’s simple pleasures. Stevie loved to eat—especially a good mayonnaise sandwich, a Bojangles biscuit, and a warm cup of coffee. He also loved to take car rides with family and friends.
Those who were blessed to know Stevie will remember his happy-go-lucky nature and the light he brought to every room. His life was a quiet reminder of how joy can be found in the simplest moments and how deeply one can touch others without ever saying a word.
Stevie is survived by two brothers, Michael Miller and wife Debbie of Creston, and Larry Miller and wife Karen of Lansing; one sister, Lois Eller and husband Tobe of Warrensville; and several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Ashe Memorial Hospital and Ashe Family Care Home for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Stevie over the years. The attention, patience, and love given to him will never be forgotten, and the family will be forever grateful to those who treated him like one of their own.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00–2:00 PM prior to the service at Ashelawn.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ashe Family Care Home, 523 Milt Houck Road, Todd, NC 28684.
Stevie will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his gentle heart, his joyful spirit, and the love he shared with everyone blessed to know him.
