Shirley Blevins Richardson

Shirley Blevins Richardson, age 50 of Lansing, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Richardson was born on December 12, 1972 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Herbert Worth and Leeuna Church Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wade Blevins and Johnny Ray Blevins as well as one sister, Betty Jean Miller.

Shirley was a remarkable woman whose love for gardening, reading and family brought joy and inspiration to all who knew her.  She could often be found tending to her vegetable garden or reading a favorite book.  She attended Three Forks Baptist Church in Creston, North Carolina.  While Shirley found immense joy within her church, gardening and reading, her greatest love was reserved for her family.  She cherished any opportunity for a vacation or adventure to create lasting memories with her family.  As a doting aunt she embraced her role as a second mother to her nieces and nephews with boundless affection.  Shirley’s kindness and unwavering love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband, Mike Richardson, daughter, Kaitlyn Leeuna Richardson of the home, three brothers, Jimmy Blevins (fiancé, Melissa Jarman) of Wilkesboro, Jerry Blevins (Beth) of Lansing and Norman Blevins (Janet) of Lansing, one sister, Trisha Wingler (Danny) of Lansing, sister-in-law, Linda Blevins of Wilkesboro and brother-in-law, Ed Miller of Lansing and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 2:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Jonathan Eggers and Rev. Tommy Dollar.  Burial will follow in the Scott Blevins Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ashelawn on Tuesday from 1:00-2:00pm one hour prior to the service.
