Shirley A. Hamm, age 86 of Creston, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
She was born on September 20, 1938, in Elkton, Maryland to the late John Lewis and Rachael Mary Spratt Anderson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Clyde Hamm, one son, Mark Allen Hamm, three brothers and five sisters.
Shirley lived a life full of creativity, devotion, and love for her family. She took great pride in her home and especially in her yard, which she mowed meticulously — it had to be just right. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful garden, which brought joy to all who saw them.
She was also gifted crafter. Whether it was crochet, sewing, or any type of creative project, she mastered it with ease. Her handiwork was cherished by many and often shared with those she loved.
Mrs. Hamm attended Little Laurel Methodist Church, she found strength in her faith and community. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Mrs. Hamm is survived by her son Rick Hamm of West Jefferson, daughter, Lisa Hawkins (Steve) of Sugar Grove, VA, three grandchildren, Nikki Hawkins, Lita Hawkins (Anthony) and Justin Hawkins (Jasmine). Also surviving is one great-granddaughter, Harper Rose Hawkins, a great-grandson due later this year, Jaxon Clyde Cornett as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 3:00pm in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens by Rev. Rick Mitchell.
Shirley will be remembered for her loving, creative spirit, and the deep love she had for her family and her faith. Her legacy lives on in the beautiful things she made, the memories she created, and the family she so dearly loved.
