Ruby Pennington, age 76 of Creston passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 8, 1949 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Junior Lee and Phyllis Farmer Osborne. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Pennington and a brother, Randy Lee Osborne.
Ruby was a member of Gillespie Community Church, where she found comfort, faith, and lifelong friendships. A woman of simple joys and a strong, independent spirit, Ruby loved collecting wind chimes and listening to their gentle music—each one holding a memory, a story, or a reminder of someone special.
She enjoyed spending her days fishing and visiting the beach, two places where she felt especially at peace. Whether casting a line or watching the waves roll in, Ruby cherished the quiet moments that nature offered her.
Ruby retired from Leviton Manufacturing after more than 35 years of dedicated service. Her work ethic, determination, and strong-willed personality were known by all who worked alongside her.
Mrs. Pennington is survived by one son Jeff Pennington (Connie) of Jefferson, one daughter, Renee "Na" Pennington (Troy) of Creston, four brothers, Carl Osborne (Linda) of Jefferson, Richard Osborne (Rachel) of Wilkesboro, Darrell Osborne (Barb) and Chimps Osborne (Anita) both of Creston, one sister, Sis Osborne and sister-in-law, Tammy Osborne both of Creston. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Tiffany McNeill (Justin), Zack Bare and Noah Pennington, seven great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 12:00pm at Gillespie Community Church by Rev. Mitchell Mash. Burial will follow in the Perry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm one hour prior to the service.

Above all, Ruby will be remembered for her independence, her unwavering strength, and the simple joys she found in this life. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
