Rev. Allen Combs

Rev. Allen Combs, a cherished figure in his community and beloved family member, passed away on September 28, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. He was born on September 17, 1953, in Jefferson, NC, and lived a life devoted to his faith, family, and community.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Kelsy Combs and wife Dr. Chandler Combs of Kernersville, NC; his daughter, Kyoko Hood and husband, Brent of Temple, GA; his sister, Florence Miller of Jefferson; his brothers, Dale Combs and wife Carolyn of Glendale Springs, and George Combs of PA; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Eli Henry Combs and Dallas Hood. Additionally, he leaves behind a loving sister-in-law, Janice Combs, nephew Gabriel Miller, and nieces Christy Anderson, Shannon Hall, Tonya Call, Karen Barker, Sharon Taylor, and Tina Combs, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.

Rev. Combs was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Edward and Callie Church Combs, his beloved wife, Shirley Jean Combs, and several siblings including brothers, Tommy Ray Combs, Rufus Johnny Combs, known affectionately as R. J., Burl Dean Combs, Charlie Alonzo Combs, Walter Lee Combs, and sisters Ida Elizabeth Combs and Billie Faye Hall. Their absence in his life was deeply felt, and his reunion with them in spirit brings comfort to his family.

Visitation will be held on October 3, 2025, at North Beaver Baptist Church by Rev. Wayne Jones, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
