Mary Ruth Reed

Mary Ruth Reed, better know as Ruth, born on March 22, 1938, in Ashe County, NC, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, NC, at the age of 87.

Mary dedicated 40 years of her professional life to Hanes, later retiring from Sara Lee Knit Products. Throughout her career, she was known not only for her work ethic but also for her warmth and kindness that touched everyone around her.

A proud member of Double Springs Baptist Church since childhood, Mary found an everlasting connection to her faith and community. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her numerous nieces and nephews, along with their children, whom she adored as great-nieces and great-nephews. Her love for family gatherings and moments spent with loved ones brought her immense joy throughout her life.

Mary had a lifelong passion for gardening and enjoyed tending to flowers, taking pride in nurturing the beauty of nature that surrounded her. She will be remembered not just for her dedication to family and work, but also for her generous spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James Bluford Reed and Flora Fender Reed, and her sisters, Nell Taylor and Blanche Ross. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Visitation will be held at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson, NC, on June 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Double Springs Cemetery.

Mary Ruth Reed will be sorely missed, her gentle heart and unwavering love lives on in the memories of those she leaves behind.
