Lou Ellen Shepard Fleming, age 84 of West Jefferson passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Generations Ashe Assisted Living. Mrs. Fleming was born on March 8, 1938 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Luther and Leabell Perry Shepherd. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Everett "Wayne" Fleming, one daughter, Delilah Blevins, sisters, Ethel Jones, Virginia Ruth Shepard, Rosie Holman, Edna "Pinky" Johnson, brothers, Donnie Stamper, Danny Stamper and Dennis Stamper.
Lou Ellen was an excellent seamstress, she enjoyed quilting, knitting, crafting, gardening, cooking and canning. She loved to travel, she had visited all 50 states as well as 2 foreign countries. Lou Ellen also loved her family very much.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by three sons, Mike Miller and wife, Elizabeth of West Jefferson, Austin Miller of West Jefferson and Steve Miller of Lansing, one daughter, Racheal Jones and husband, Randy of Lansing, three sisters, Mary Barr and husband, Lewis and Anita Severt and husband, David both of Konnarock, VA and Lisa Richardson of Sugar Grove, VA, eight grandchildren, Michelle Goodman and husband, Tim, Autumn Lewis and husband, Allen, Bobby Jones and wife, Alexas, Cassie Bradbury and husband, Joel, Amanda McClure and husband, Danny, Crystal Miller, Mindy Harless and Leanna Miller, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00am at Badger Funeral Home by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will take place in the Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Westfield, North Carolina at 3:00pm on Saturday following the service.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00-11:00am one hour prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family respectfully requests no food please.
