John Wayne Billings

John Wayne Billings, age 58 of Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. John was born on October 4, 1966 in High Point, North Carolina to Johnny Estel Billings and Mary Ellen Watson Bare. He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, Carl Dean Bare and a brother, Danny Estel Billings.

John was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures and cherished the moments spent with those he loved most.

His greatest happiness came from being surrounded by his loved ones. Whether it was a family vacation, or a quiet evening at home, he treasured every opportunity to be with his family. He especially enjoyed going on vacations to the beach. Shopping was another favorite pastime—John loved to find a good deal and enjoyed browsing stores.

Mr. Billings is survived by: his mother, Mary Bare of Jefferson, one brother, Adam Billings and wife Angie of Jefferson, five nieces, Deanna Billings, Ashley Billings, April Billings, Hailey Billings, Marissa Billings and fiance Tyler Jones, one nephew, Justin Billings, several great nieces, great nephews and one great great nephew also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Roger Blevins. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Ashelawn.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the family, c/o Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 US Hwy 221 North in Jefferson.
