J. Harold Smith

Mr. J. Harold Smith, age 78 passed away on December 18, 2023 at his home in Wilkesboro following a battle with cancer. He spoke of his desire to go home to Jesus.

J. Harold was born April 11,1945 to Burl Woodrow and Della Patrick Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Gurney Woodrow Smith and Wilson Burl Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; ImoJean Roark Smith, five brothers; Cecil (Joyce) Smith, of Graham, Paul Smith of Burlington, Billy (Christina) Smith of McGrady, Melvin (Mary) Smith of Albemarle, and Allen Smith of Granite Falls, two sisters; Faye (Charles) Walton and Marcella (David) Trivette both of West Jefferson, two sisters-in-law; Ivadean (Steve) Smith of West Jefferson, and Rosa Smith of Hickory, two brothers-in-law; Roy Roark of West Jefferson and Russell Roark of Laurel Springs, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Blevins and Mr. Cecil Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the Church.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 323 Wilkesboro, NC 28697, or to a worthy charity of the donor’s choice. The family requests no food.

ImoJean and the rest of the family wish to express special thanks to Billy Smith, Allen Smith, and Erik Smith for all their help during J. Harold’s final days at home.
