Jennifer Key Walton

Jennifer Key Walton was a woman who lived life with a full heart and an open hand. Passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025. She was born in Ashe County on Sunday, November 25, 1973 to the late Thomas James “Jack” and Patricia Ann Blankenship Key. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Walton, Jr. with whom she loved going to drag races, and now is reunited with him once again  

She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and daughter, finding her greatest joy in the simple times shared together. Jennifer had a way of making everyday moments special, whether she was gathered around the table at one of her favorite places—Mike’s BBQ—or out on one of her many adventures.

She loved to “run the roads until the wheels ran off,” as she often said, and she meant it. Jennifer enjoyed the freedom of the open road, especially when riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a pastime that brought her both excitement and peace. At home, she could often be found watching Court TV, a show she rarely missed and always had an opinion about.

Jennifer had a generous spirit and was always ready to help others whenever she could. Thrifting with her family was another one of her favorite pastimes—she loved the hunt, the laughter, and the memories made along the way.

She is survived by: her daughter, Sierra Graham (Corey), two grandchildren, Kairo Allen King Graham and Millie Alexanndra Graham all of Jacksonville, FL, her sister, Jackie Key (Jeremy), niece, Rain Royall (Josh Jones) of Creston, nephew, Alexander Bare and great nephew, Marcus Bare of Wilkesboro, cousins who were more like sisters, Sarah Roten and Cindy Roten of Creston.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Larry Denny, Rev. Danny Farmer and Minister David Lyalls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Ashelawn.

Burial will be at a later date in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

Above all, Jennifer will be remembered for her love, her loyalty, and her lively spirit that brought warmth and laughter to those around her.
