Jeffery Nelson Greer

Jeffery Nelson Greer, age 56, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, formerly of Ashe County, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at his home.

Jeffery was born in Ashe County on Sunday, December 14, 1969. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Elbert Greer, and his mother, Elaine Barker Brandt.

A man of quiet dedication and steady hands, Jeffery was deeply rooted in his faith and remained active in his church throughout his life. He was a committed member of the NC Big Bear Baggers, where he proudly served as Chairman, giving generously of his time and leadership in service to others.

Jeffery found great joy working on projects in his garage, especially those involving woodworking. He took pride in creating, repairing, and improving—always willing to lend his skills to help family, friends, or neighbors. His love for working with wood reflected his patient nature and appreciation for craftsmanship.

His lifelong service to the Deaf community extended across the state and surrounding areas, marked by a genuine desire to make each person feel seen, valued, and supported.

Above all, Jeffery was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Penney Greer of Fuquay-Varina, NC; his stepmother, Ginger Brinegar Greer; his brothers, James Greer and wife Susan of Jefferson, Josh Greer and wife Stacy, Jerome Greer and wife Jennifer and Jonah Greer and wife Olga all of West Jefferson; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Taylor Osowitt, Brooke Pickett (Kaheem), Savannah Greer, Sierra Greer, Sheyenne Greer, Arianna Greer, Krislyn Greer, Ethan Greer, Kent Manaloto, Kyleigh Greer, Xavier Pickett, and Addalie Pickett, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

Jeffery will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his steady presence, and the love he shared so freely with those around him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

His life leaves a lasting legacy of faith, service, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
