Geraldine Lee Jones, age 89 of Laurel Springs passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Generations of Ashe Assisted Living. She was born in Buchanan, Virginia on August 21, 1936 to the late Waldron and Carrie Belcher Lee. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bennett Jones three sisters, Dorothy Tackett, Helen Brock, Lucy Justus and one brother, Ken Lee.
She was a devoted member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church, where her faith was a source of comfort.
Geraldine found great joy in quilting and sewing, often creating beautiful handmade pieces that will be treasured by family and friends for years to come. In her leisure time, she enjoyed listening to bluegrass and gospel music, melodies that brought her peace and uplifted her spirit.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, her steady faith, and the simple joys she shared with those around her. Geraldine’s memory will live on in the lives she touched, the crafts she lovingly made, and the music she cherished. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mrs. Jones is survived by two sons, David Jones (Zena) of Lansing, Danny Jones (Debby) of Laurel Springs, one sister, Viola Severt of West Jefferson and one brother, Richard Lee (Johnie) of Big Rock, VA. One granddaughter, Zeea Jones of Jefferson and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 12:00pm at Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Paul Strickland. Burial will follow in West Jefferson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family in care of Ashelawn Memorial Chapel; 3470 US Highway 221 N. Jefferson, NC 28640.
