Freda Graybeal

Freda Graybeal, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at Forest Ridge Assisted Living in West Jefferson. She was born on July 7, 1932, one of eight children, and had reached the age of 92 at the time of her passing. Freda is remembered as a nurturing spirit who brought love and warmth into the lives of those around her. Freda loved going to church, quilting and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Graybeal was preceded in death by her parents and son, C. David Long.

Freda is survived by her devoted husband, John “J. B.” Graybeal. She is also survived by her beloved sons: William Long and his wife Margorie of Hockessin, DE; Donald Long of Chesapeake City, MD; Richard Long and his wife Pam of Hockessin, DE; and Gregory Long of Garden City, SC Freda’s loving daughter, Amy Kerr, resides in Mountville, PA and sister, Wilma O'Neal of DE. Additionally, she is survived by her step-sons, Johnny Graybeal and his wife Jennifer of Winston Salem and Ronnie Graybeal and his wife Patti of Jefferson; step-grandchildren, Kenneth Faircloth and his wife Zelda, Alex Graybeal, Katie Graybeal, Staci Oliver, and Cora Busick.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Tommy Dollar. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm prior to the service.
