Florence Powers

Florence Ella Barker Powers, age 88, of Warrensville passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Generations Ashe Assisted Living Center. Florence was born May 10, 1937, in Ashe County to Glenn and Eunice Yates Barker. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by four brothers: Thomas, Jackson, John, and Billy Joe Barker, and one sister: Mary Lee Barker. She was a member of Sturgills Baptist Church. Florence loved God and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be deeply missed.

Florence is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bob Powers, and two sons: Allen Powers and wife Teresa of Boone and Travis Powers and wife Kristi of Creston, five grandchildren: Brittany Powers and husband Paul of Boone, Kristin Powers Obiso and husband Matt of Boone, Gabriel, Cooper, and Autumn Powers of Creston, four great grandchildren: Fiona, Penelope, Florence Powers and Chloe Obiso of Boone, one brother: Benny Barker and wife Jeanette of Warrensville, two sisters: Polly Carpenter and husband Max of Rotonda West, FL, and Jane Holliday of Greenville, VA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Wednesday prior to the service at Ashelawn. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
