Erma Virginia Howell Weaver

Erma Virginia Howell Weaver, age 91, of Blacksburg, Virginia, formerly of Ashe County passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025. She was born on March 8, 1934, in Washington County, Virginia one of seven children born to the late Charles Samson and Stella Mae Brooks Howell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank James Weaver Sr. and a daughter, Sherry Kay Krause.

A devoted caregiver throughout her life, Erma was known for her compassion and unwavering dedication to her family. Her hands were rarely still—she spent countless hours quilting, a craft she not only cherished but also used to serve others. Many of her beautiful handmade quilts were donated to children’s homes and various other charities, a reflection of her generous heart and selfless spirit.

Erma was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Jefferson, where she found strength, fellowship, and purpose in her faith. Her quiet kindness and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Weaver is survived by one son, Frank James Weaver Jr. of Middleburg, Florida, one daughter, Kathy Dianne Weaver of Blacksburg, Virginia, one brother, Robert Howell of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are five grandchildren, James, William, Rebecca, Paul and Anitra, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 1:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Kirby McNeill. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm one hour prior to the service at the church.
