Elizabeth Ida (Stevens) Lyle

Elizabeth Ida Stevens Lyle, age 84 of Hays passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at her home.  Mrs. Lyle was born in Washington, D.C. on October 18, 1937. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Vernon (Buzz) Lyle, parents Elmer and Ruth Miller Stevens, brothers Elmer Stevens, Jr. and Paul Stevens, one sister that died in infancy, and son-in-law Lester Gary Shumate.

Mrs. Lyle was a member of Pond Mountain Primitive Baptist Church. Her greatest interest in life was reading, and studying the bible and testifying to others.

Mrs. Lyle is survived by one daughter, Janie Shumate of Hays, two grandchildren, Davis Eric Baker (Heather) of North Wilkesboro, and, David Ryan Baker (Rebecca) of Palm Coast, FL, twelve great grandchildren, Joshua Ian Baker, Kristen Alexis Baker, Rebecca Allie Baker, Robert Davis Baker, Madison KayAnn Walker, Savana Faith Walker, Aspen Brooke VanDorn, Hailey Shae Baker, Savannah Marie Baker, Noah Rylan Baker, Kyler Storm Baker, and Adelyn Noel Baker. Mrs. Lyle is also survived by her honorary great grandchildren Annie Billings, Lynnzey Billings, Cody Martin, and Austin Walton, and nine great great grandchildren, Isabella Gaskin, Oliver Gary Baker, Kaison Drake Baker, Zealand Lynk Baker, Leela Marie Martin, Leo Dean Martin, Skyler Jo Martin, Nicholas Landon Walton, and Harper McKinley Walton. Several brothers-in- law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, dear friends, special friend and neighbor Donna Rutherford, and special friend and caregiver Judy Gregory.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Eddie Lyle.  Burial will follow in the Davis Ham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to the service.
