It is with deep sorrow that the family of Eileen Bell announce her passing, surrounded by loved ones, on Nov 23, 2024. Eileen was born on October 27, 1939 to the late Francis Orville and Bertha Mae Johnson Shillingburg. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Joanne Bentley. She was raised in Grove City, Ohio where she met Tabor (Tab) Bell, an Air Force Electrician, on a blind date and they were married six months later on Jan 31, 1958. They relocated to Miami, FL where she tolerated decades of the South Florida heat before retiring in 1994 with Tabor to the mountains of Jefferson, NC where she enjoyed fresh air, gardening, antiquing, and her favorite Autumn seasons. Eileen was a faithful wife for 66 years, a patient & loving mother to Susan & Patti, and a doting “Nonnie” to Devin & Jacob. She was an animal lover, loyal friend, cookie baker, avid reader, detailed gift wrapper, expert seamstress, whimsical decorator, true crime fan, and a generous giver to charities. She made sure to keep Talbots and Barnes & Nobel in business and was also involved in local organizations especially the Ashe County Arts Council. The thoughtful details placed on everything she touched made us feel special and loved; we can only hope she knows how special and loved she always will be to us.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her husband, Tabor (Tab) Bell, two daughters, Susan Kay Bell and Patricia (Patti) Marie Bell both of Florida, one sister, Phyllis Marie Bower of Ohio, two grandsons, Devin M. Antoncich of Washington D.C. and Jacob J. Villalobos of New Mexico as well as her beloved cat, Molly.
At her request, no funeral services will be held. To honor her memory, please donate to the animal rescue of your choice.
