Donna Lynn Higgs Coldiron, age 65, of North Wilkesboro, formerly of Fleetwood, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Donna was born on March 5, 1960, in Ashe County, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Edgar Higgs, her mother, Betty Gentry Houck, step-father, James Ervin Houck and her husband, Danny Ray Coldiron.
Donna found great joy in simple pleasures and had a special passion for collecting Barbie dolls, amassing a collection that brought her much happiness over the years. Above all, she deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and even helped raise. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the warm chaos that only grandchildren can bring.
Known for her uplifting spirit, Donna faced life’s challenges with grace, humor, and resilience. She had a remarkable way of finding the silver lining in any situation and never missed an opportunity to brighten someone’s day with a kind word or a funny remark.
Donna will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and positivity will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She is survived by two sons, Eric Coldiron and wife, Brandy of Crumpler and Chad Coldiron of Wilkesboro, four grandchildren, Adam Coldiron, Corbin Coldiron, Nicolas Coldiron and Arabella Coldiron, three brothers, Willie Houck and wife, Mary of Granite Falls, NC, Harold Higgs of Selma, NC and Robert Higgs and wife, Karen of Smithfield, NC, one sister, Kathy Haller and husband, Mike of Clayton, NC and her step-mother, Wanda Higgs of Clayton, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Big Flatts Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials will be made to Big Flatts Baptist Church, P.O. Box 183, Fleetwood, NC 28626.
