Denver Carl Lewis

Denver Carl Lewis, a skilled roofer, avid outdoorsman, and devoted family man, passed away on July 17, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and cherished memories.  Denver was born on June 9, 1954, in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late James and Dessie Eastridge Lewis. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Lewis, Dean Lewis and Chuck Lewis and two sisters, Melanie Lewis and Cindy Lewis.

For over 50 years, Denver poured his heart and soul into the roofing industry. His expertise was well-respected within the community, and his work will continue to stand as a testament to his many years of labor.

Beyond his professional achievements, Denver was a man of many interests and talents. He appreciated the great outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. Denver could often be found at auctions, searching for pieces to add to his collection. He had a knack for turning passions into projects, once he completed one he would start another.

A card game or a round of golf was never far from Denver's mind. His sharp memory made him a great opponent when it came to Jeopardy.  Denver also loved his cars, to him they were living entities, each with its own personality and character. He affectionately named his beloved cars, turning them into cherished members of his extended family.

His giving nature was one of Denver’s defining characteristics. He possessed an innate ability to recognize the needs of others, often offering his support without seeking any recognition or reward.

Denver also had an uncanny ability to win raffles and drawings, always grateful for every stroke of luck that came his way.

Denver Lewis’ memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife Patsy Miller Lewis, their two daughters, Tera Blevins and husband Cody of Jefferson and Theresa Church of Lansing, his three adoring grandchildren, Solomon Everette Shaw, Bryer Presley-Jane Shaw and Brystal Monroe Jane Church. Also surviving are one brother, Robert Lewis of Lansing and one sister, Lola Church of High Point and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. David Blackburn.  Burial will follow in the Hart Ham Miller Jones Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 pm prior to the service.
