Clayton Farrington

Robert Clayton Farrington age 85 of Jefferson passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House. Mr. Farrington was born on December 30, 1937 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Glen and Stella Lambert Farrington.  In addition to his parents Clayton was also preceded in death by siblings, Winfred, James and Johnny Farrington as well as a daughter, Sally Cummings.

Clayton loved attending Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, playing cards, put putt, shooting pool, Pac-Man and skee ball.  Clayton was a child at heart and enjoyed go carts, sledding in the snow, opening presents, his birthday and Christmas.  Clayton enjoyed playing the coin machine at Roses and once stated he wasn’t broke because he had a penny left in his pocket.  He loved yard sales and searching the ground for lucky pennies.  Clayton was loved by all and could make anyone smile and laugh.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  We rejoice in comfort knowing he is with the Lord. He worked for 20 + years at Holly Farms and Tyson before retirement.

Mr. Farrington is survived by his wife, Jane Miller Farrington, bonus daughter, Tammy (Steve) Jones of Creston, children, Glory and Lynn Combs of Jefferson, Elizabeth (Larry) Price of Lansing, Nancy Farrington of Jefferson and Robert Farrington of Jefferson.  Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren, including one special great-grandson, Gordon Cox, two sisters, Lucy Parsons of Millers Creek and Glenda (Cecil) Walters of West Jefferson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church at 2:00pm by Rev. Frank Woods, Rev. Sonny Thomas and Rev. Russell Sheets.  Burial will follow in the Roans Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
