Clara Shumate Sawyer age 71 of West Jefferson, NC died Thursday, September 12, 2002 at her home. Mrs. Sawyer was born March 8, 1931 in Ashe County, NC to Manley and Lura Mullis Shumate.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. J.C. Darnell and Rev. Gary Watson will officiate. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2002 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church.

Daughters: Elizabeth Shatley of West Jefferson, NC
Suzy Hines of Lenoir, NC
Sisters: Bertha Barker of Lenoir, NC
Myrtle Jean Bledsoe of Todd, NC
4 Grandchildren 1 Step Grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
