Christina Sluder Taylor, age 74, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and formerly of Ashe County, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Christina was born in Ashe County to the late Ernest Samuel and Nell Josephine Price Sluder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Sluder.
A 1969 graduate of Northwest Ashe High School, Christina went on to attend Cosmetology School in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She had a creative spirit and a love for working with her hands—whether through arts and crafts or sewing, she always found joy in making beautiful things.
Christina had a tender heart for animals, especially cats. She dedicated much of her time to fostering and adopting them, helping to find each one a loving forever home. Though she made her home in Georgia, her heart always remained in the mountains of Ashe County. Each summer, she cherished her visits back to what she affectionately called “The Peak House,” where she found peace, comfort, and happy memories.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Taylor, and her son, Mark Taylor, both of Georgia.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riverview Community Center, 11719 N.C. Hwy 88 West, Creston, NC 28615, an organization close to Christina’s heart.
