Carolyn Powers Fisher

Wanda Carolyn Powers Fisher better known as Carolyn, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. She was born, in Ashe County, on September 21, 1947, to the late Rev Arthur Lee Powers and Nona Howell Powers.

Carolyn and her first husband, Roby F. Woods Jr., raised three children, Sherry, Karl and Christopher. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2024. While raising her children, Carolyn loved gardening. She had big garden beds that she tended daily. She canned her goods from her garden which includes different jams and vegetables. She loved to cook and be with her family. Carolyn was always busy; caring for her chickens, baking, knitting, crocheting, sewing or reading. Carolyn always loved going to the mountains or the beach.

Those left to cherish her memory includes her children, Sherry (David) Humphrey, Karl (Teresa) Woods and Christopher (Amanda) Woods; her 14 grandchildren, Aaron, Benjamin, Ethan, Sarah, Luke, Rebekah, Rachel, Hannah, Mary, Abigail, Brandon, Mallorie, Shelby and Ashlyn; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur “Pete” Powers of Lansing; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Warren Powers and Kenneth Powers and two sisters, Wilma Miller and Helen Absher.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Speaker Bill Powers. Burial will be at Avery Powers Cemetery in Lansing, NC.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
