Bruce Howard Lewis

Born March 28th, 1948

Departed this life at Glenbridge Nursing Home on Monday September 25th, 2023 at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

He was the son of Clint ‘Slick’ and Minnie Jones Lewis. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Joyce Shepherd on December 24th, 1965. To this union was born two sons.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of 57 years, sons Chuck (Saundra), Kurt (Angie), grandson Kolton (Paige), sister Mildred, brother Grant (Linda), three nephews Jon, Joseph, and Kevin, great nephews Clinton and Riley, and great niece Annabell.

Bruce professed a hope in Christ as a young man and joined Buffalo Baptist Church, later moving his membership to Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until death.

Bruce went to work at Thomasville Furniture in 1966. He worked there until the plant closed, in 2001. He then went to work at Levinton and was there until his health caused him to retire.

Bruce was a hard worker, providing well for his family. He was a good husband and great father, who was always proud of his boys. He was always wanting to know how they were doing. He loved to go to church, work in his garden, and keep his yard and house in good repair. He loved his mother-in-law, Laura and looked after her. He was a good neighbor. To know Bruce was to love him.

We will all miss him dearly. Joyce and the boys have given up a wonderful husband and father, the church and neighborhood a wonderful friend. But our loss is his gain.

Weep not but prepare to meet Bruce when you travel the path he just traveled.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2:30pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Elder Fred Richardson and Minster Danny Miller.  Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 pm prior to the service.
