Betty Jean Whitfield Rollins, age 85, went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She was born on May 10, 1937 in Princeton, NC to the late William Jackson and Betty Estelle Pittman Whitfield. After marriage, she and her husband Jack moved to Raleigh where they lived and raised their family. Two years ago due to her declining health, she and Jack moved to the mountains to live with their daughter Debbie and her family.
Betty Jean is survived by her husband of 69 years, Milton Jack Rollins; their three children, Phyllis, Jack Jr. (Susan), and Debbie (James); eight grandchildren, Tara (Tommy), Brad (Heather), Wesley (Mallory), Karlie, Garrett (Kellie), Becky (Eric), Michael Chase (Christine), and Brandon; twelve great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Madelyn, Alexis, Aubrey, Tade, Dylan, Carter Jo, Easton, Evelyn, Natalie, and Henry; Becky and Eric's fur babies - especially Frodo; one brother, Bobby Whitfield (Sue); also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Preacher David Lyalls and Preacher Terry Woods. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 14, 2023 prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church, 588 Lee Osborne Road, Lansing, NC 28643.
