Alice Virginia Pyle Gentry

Alice Virginia Pyle Gentry, age 85, of Roaring River, formerly of Ashe County, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Gentry was born February 15, 1940, in Cecil County, Maryland to William Edward and Helen Catherine Dill Pyle. She worked for Leviton Manufacturing for over 40 years. Alice was a wonderful mother and made sure her family was taken care of. She loved her maltese, Sammy, crocheting, dancing and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; father of her children, JC Gentry; infant sister, Pearl; sisters, Francis Poore, Catherine Wood; and longtime special friend, Denver Greer.

Surviving are her daughter, Debora Sparks and spouse Mike of Roaring River; son, Jay Dean Gentry and spouse Denise of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Corey Richardson of North Wilkesboro, Corbin Richardson of West Jefferson, Brooklyn Reid and spouse Casey, Sterling Gentry and special friend, MacKenzie Engel of North Wilkesboro; great grandchildren, Connor, Carson, Raelynn and Amaya; and Sammy, her beloved maltese.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Ken Perdue. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
