Mary Ruth Brackins

Mary Ruth Brackins, daughter of the late Walter Nelson and Hazel Arnold Ham, was born on January 17, 1949. On the Monday morning of October 16, 2023, the Golden Gates Swung open and a gentle voice said, “Come.” At the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 28 days, her life on earth was ended. While we mourn her passing, she is rejoicing in the Land where death will never come, and pain, and sorrow are unknown.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Darrell Jones, her second husband, Robert Paul “Bob” Brackins, as well as three brothers, Howard, Darrell and Larry Ham.

Mary was a dedicated and loyal employee at both Hanes and Jefferson Apparel, following her time there she spent even more fulfilling years at Oldham until her health allowed. Her dedication earned her the respect and admiration of her coworkers and customers alike.

Mary also cherished the moments she spent with her family. She was a loving mother to her children and a devoted grandmother to grandchildren. She took great pleasure in hosting family cookouts that created lasting memories with them. Family was her greatest source of joy, and her love and support knew no bounds.

Mrs. Brackins is survived by one son, Terry Jones (Loretta), one daughter, Tammy Roten (Steve Eldreth), two brothers, Bobby Ham and Kenny Ham, one sister, Lois Riley, a sister-in-law, Margaret Ham, two grandsons, Chris Roten (Misty) and Christopher Edwards (Sierra), one granddaughter, Jada Roberts (Jordan), five great-grandchildren, Caden, Jayden, Zoey, Kinsley and Vaeda. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel at 2:00pm with Rev. Tommy Dollar and Rev. Jeff Dollar officiating. Burial will follow in the Welch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm one hour prior to the service at Ashelawn.
