Floyd Allen Maltba, age 81 of Laurel Springs died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Maltba was born January 5, 1937 in Watauga County to Rome Linney Maltba and Ethel Spencer Maltba. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Elizabeth Roten Maltba; brothers, Lloyd Maltba, Thad Maltba, Monroe Maltba, Jerry Maltba, Hal Maltba, Ted Maltba, and Earl Maltba; and sisters, Lucy Giles, Ruby Maute , Jewell Jennings, and Virginia Dotson.
Mr. Maltba attended Big Ridge Community Church. He enjoyed going to church, singing, going for walks, joking with people, and especially spending time with his family.
Mr. Maltba is survived by: two daughters, Rebecca Rhodes of Roaring River and Debra Brown of Traphill; four sons, Gary Maltba and Darrell Maltba, both of Laurel Springs, Johnny Maltba of Crumpler, and Tony Maltba of Creston; two brothers, Dan Maltba of Sanford and Glenn Maltba of Taylorsville; two sisters, Linda Lovett and Jackie Brown, both of Wilkesboro; also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Pastor Clayton Handy and Billy Wagoner. Burial will follow in the Sheets Gap Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn.
